PINK FOR OCTOBER

Oct 01, 2008 10:57

This blog is now Pink for October.

As many of you know, my mother fought breast cancer eight years ago, and is now fighting cancer again.

This is a beatable illness, if caught early enough. If we educate ourselves, we can prevent, or certainly beat, whatever comes our way.

And as ever, bid on Lisa's bears, and support her walks!!!

Sorry if this sounds like a pointless shill, but tomorrow night, our store goes pink for the fight. Liz Hurley will be there for Estee Lauder, and they are turning the outside lights pink for the rest of the month.

I and most of my staff will be wearing the pink ribbons and letting people know which products we sell contribute as well.

redstapler can spoil the name of my place of work, if she wants. If not, no prob. I just want to let her know a lot of people are in on the fight, and we're doing our bit as well.

I'm in Boston so even if she told me I have a feeling that you are probably in NYC? I hope it goes well. I would love to drop by if I still lived down there though.

Augh, that sounds wonderful, but I don't think I can make it.

My blog and my Twitter are both pink for the month. My wife lost her mom several years ago to breast cancer, and one of the friends I play poker with is battling it now, so it's something I keep a close eye on. My office will, I presume, be hosting its third-annual charity poker tournament for breast cancer research, and I'm looking forward to that.
