So, it's been reported here and here that Mike Lowell has been traded to the Rangers in exchange for catcher Max Ramirez. The deal is preliminary and the Red Sox are probably going to be eating some as yet undetermined (but supposedly large) amount of his salary ( Read more... )

I am really, really sad about this. As a newer MLB fan I've never been especially a "team" person - definitely a player fan. Myglowl is one of my favorites, and I'm not entirely sure I understand the move. Is this to make room to sign Adrian Beltre? Okay, he would probably improve the range at 3B and be a better runner, but I'm skeptical he will be an equivalent hitter. Yeah, I know he was injured last year and in the past has been fairly similar offensively to Lowell...but Lowell was damn good last year even with his recovery. I hope this actually means the Sox are going to bring in a *serious* offensive upgrade in a 1B and move Youk ( ... )

As I've said 4,000 times before, I get attached to players, and I've become really attached to Myglowl. He's always seemed like such a nice guy and seems so well-liked by the rest of the team, it's easy to adore him.

That said.. I realize he's older and he's been hurt, but I'm still unsure about this because Max Ramirez doesn't look like much of an upgrade.

I really don't like this at all especially because I feel like we don't need this new catcher guy. Granted, I'm fairly attached to Myglowl too but still. :|

This makes me sad. I mean, I know Myglowl has been hurt, but he still put up decent numbers at the plate this year and he is still a good defensive player. Its just his running that has suffered. Plus, Max Ramirez? Really? Anyway, I just really love mikey and will be sad to see such a stand up guy, and great player, leave the organization.
