Seriously, as much credit as I give to our farm system, it seems kind of odd that we messed up TWO pitchers named Clay (meredith and bucholtz) by rushing them a bit too soon
Poor Buchholz, I do feel bad for him. It was so painful to watch him pitch, not just because it usually meant a really bad night in the win/loss column, but also because he just looked so lost.
I agree though, how is it that TWO pitchers named Clay have gotten screwed up like this? Is it the name or something?
I really hope Buchholz gets his head screwed on right again. The poor kid.
The guy will be 24 next year and he has tremendous stuff. He'll be back. He'll fix his mechanics, gain some confidence again and he could be back for the stretch run next year.
We've had so much luck with the farm system especially in the past few years that it sucks to see a few have a shitty run. I agree though I think Buchholz will either be back on the Sox or used as trade bait.
For anyone wondering who will take his spot, we have two off days next week so we'll skip the 5th spot in the rotation and likely have Wakefield pitch out of that spot when it comes around again.

I'm just glad Wakefield's rehab is going well.
