Negotiations between the Red Sox and free agent third baseman Mike Lowell took a hiatus yesterday, but should resume over the weekend, according to general manager Theo Epstein

He turns 34 in February. I don't expect Lowell to put up that line ever again as he nears the end of his career and doesn't have to worry about a new contract. I think Lowell's worth $14 for just the first year, and by the third, people will wonder what Theo was thinking.
I completely agree. I think a lot of people don't realize that 2007 was a contract year, as well as a career year. His numbers will drop, and if he hits a 4th year they'll probably drop off the table. You don't want to be the team that paid someone for their last contract after having a career year, you will a) overpay b) pay for too many years.
I'm not in charge here, but welcome! hm well sometimes boston.com will say. otherwise, you probably will have to do some digging. I found this out from a friend.
One good place to check periodically is Signings Hotline. From the menus select "Baseball" under "Sport" and one at a time select the states you could attend events in. There is a paid component to the service, but often if you google the names that seem to be listed together with "autographs" or "signing" you can find the event in question.
FWIW, if you run it for Massachusetts right now the players listed will be at the Lowell Spinners awards dinner, which is sold out.
You might also check the usual suspects once in a while: Sure Shot Promotions (they have Dave Roberts and Papelbon appearing somewhere 12/2 but haven't announced details yet), TriStar Productions (though they haven't had a Boston show since 2006 I don't think), New England Picture (check "Upcoming Events"), etc.
As terrific as I think Jacoby is, the prices were pretty rich for my blood--$90 to sign a photo--and Natick's a bit far just to gaze from a distance. ^_~
