MLB TV

This is a question for those with the online mlb tv subscription.

Do I have to be there to watch the game at that precise time or is it possible to watch that same gave after it has already happened?

Also, my roommate and I want to split a subscription, will it let two people be logged on at the same time?

Thanks.

They archive the games and you can watch them later.

Two people can be logged in at the same time. My friend and I did that last year in different states and never had a problem.

My roommate and I both logged in yesterday and watched opening day on two different computers

I'm on my 3rd year of mlb.tv subscriptions, so here's a couple of things I wish I'd known ahead of time:

1. Thanks to retarded contractual blackout restrictive blah blah blah, you can't watch an archived game for more than five minutes at a time until 6 a.m. the day after the game was played.

2. It's not like Tivo: when a game is on, you can't rewind it. It streams live until it's over, and then it's archived.

3. Condensed games are hella cool but you have to pay extra to get them. Highlight reels are the same way. This is pure bullshit, but you can get the highlight reels by watching Baseball Tonight anyway.

4. Your local teams are blacked out, and so are playoff games and nationally broadcasted games, until the games are archived. Also a horrible pain in the ass.

The good news is you have access to all archived games for the entire season, and yeah, streaming live baseball on your computer screen (great for when you're stuck at work).

re: 1, my husband and I watched the game yesterday afternoon (about 6pm Pacific time, so 9pm Eastern?) and were able to get the whole thing. It did freeze every once in a while but it definitely wasn't every five minutes, and we were able to start it up wherever we wanted. Maybe this is something they've fixed for this year?

They do offer one-month subscriptions to mlb.tv, you know.

#1...thanks. I was afraid it was just me. Or that my media player was broken or something. Sucks, but makes sense. Was it like that last year too? I don't remember that happening, but I didn't watch the archives much.

This is my second year with mlb.tv and generally speaking I like it. It's cheaper than extra innings, which I can't watch from work. And since I'm at work when most of the games are on, (and have permission to have them on at work) it works out better.

That comment was supposed to go to capheine, sorry.

It's been like that since forever. At one time you were able to watch games for 20 minutes before the media player would crash, but I guess now it's 5 minutes (according to mlb.com, anyway)

My zip code isn't listed on the blackout list, and my cable company doesn't carry NESN, and what do they tell me when I try to watch the game tonight (even though it worked last night)?

We're sorry! Your data indicate that you are prevented from watching this game LIVE due to the bos local or national live broadcast restrictions. Please try an MLB.TV game that doesn't include this team.

This is so lame.
