Does anyone listen to Red Sox on XM radio? Are the announcers bearable? I’m going to be transplanted over the summer and wont have access to game day but don’t want to pay out the ass for Fox-caliber announcers. Thoughts?

Mods- If this is off topic I’m sorry, I checked the FAQ and it wasn’t really answered there

radio, announcers

The announcers for XM are whoever the home team announcer's are. So half the time you'll be getting Sox announcers and the other half you'll be getting the announcers for whatever team the Sox are playing. So it's not too bad.

What steaksammich said. But in the playoffs, you get to choose which team to listen to.

The only problem i have with it, is it sounds a little tinny, sorta like listening to a song on the computer that was recorded at 64k insted of 128 or something. Other then that, having the sox anywhere is REALLY FREAKIN' NICE.

Odd, I don't seem to have that problem. But yeah, it is great. Plus with living on the Left Coast, I can listen to many of the games at work/on the roadragecommute home.

Last summer my fiancee and I listened to the Red Sox on XM as we traveled across the country. The announcers vary. If it is a Red Sox home game you get the WEEI feed. If it is an away game then you get the broadcasters for the home team. You will find that most of them, especially for the small market teams are bad, but not horrendous. You will also find that the Yankees annoucers are obnoxious--and I am not just saying that because they like the Yankees. We found that it was worth the money for XM because you get to hear the Sox. It is also fun to listen to the commercials from around the country.
