It's not over till it's over, and you throw away the tree

Merry Christmas and greetings from the ancestral homelands of the north, where I am sojourning for the festive period. I hope you're all seasonally stuffed, alcoholically lubricated and otherwise emotionally prepared for the concluding portion of televisual entertainment that the BBC, in their wisdom, have seen fit to supply us with tonight.

Darn, Merlin never did go shirtless at the end did he? Hm.... that means it's not the last episode...

As for the episode... I just gave up and hopefully denying the fact that ARthur died.. he didn't die.. they lived happily and Merlin wasn't a closeted sorcerer anymore .. yeah!

T^T I was optimistic until the end, until the Merlin ending scene came on.... I seriously demand answers...

Oh, and how does the modern!Merlin fit in the story? x)

Thanks for the reviews, and keeping up the cheer even when it was gloomy. :)

Good point, the first ever episode remains the sole instance of Merlin shirtlessness in five whole years. I suppose that with the excess of Old!Merlin this time around, it was just as well - the make-up department would have been VERY challenged by having to portray 900-year-old nipples...

I was pleased to see Gwen and Gaius auditioning for the potential spin-off series Camelot ER

LOL

Did Merlin ever go back to Camelot, or did he just spend 900 years walking round and round that lake, waiting for something to happen? Perhaps we'll never know.

LOLOLOL.

Thank you for making me laugh so hard. I needed that so badly.

You're welcome! I definitely appreciated the episode more after my brain had cooked up a few silly thoughts about it...

I always thought "the end of a good thing" was a euphemism for Gwaine's bottom...

I like your idea of a Sainsbury's-based reunion!

*sound of two trolleys crashing*
MODERN ARTHUR: Sorry, I'm having trouble steering this thing...
MODERN MERLIN: Is that because you're a prat?
