I recently discovered that Google Books contains a complete archive of back-issues of LIFE magazine from 1936 to 1972. This delighted me, not only because LIFE has a lot of great photography in it, but also because I love retro advertising and all its peculiar foibles, so there's hours and hours of browsing pleasure to be had

Green beans and white sauce maybe??? Bleuch! It's the colours too - they don't look very appetising!

Yes, ye olde colour printing certainly doesn't help to make the food look appetising. It would give a vomity hue to even the most Michelin-starred of dinners.

I think theres a typo on the green bean picture and somebody has accidentally added "in this".....the pun works better if so.
