GIANT RATS rule the world (or at least a country) in Mary Gentle's Rats & Gargoyles. Medium-sized rats act as grunts & quote Shakespeare in Rats, Bats, & Vats by Eric Flint & Dave Freer. Counting several rat-themed movies, I seem to run across rat fiction fairly often. Maybe it's good preparation?

See also, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh. Even children are being indoctrinated through readily available fiction.

Whilst trawling through our local garden centre this morn, (and goggling at the fact that the UK spends more on gardening than any other leisure pursuit) I saw a giant mouse trap. It may have been only an advertising prop, but it was about four foot long and called 'The Big Cheese' (naturally.)

If only I had stolen it (and circumnavigated afforded the Royal Mail tarriff), Walthamstow could have rested easy in its collective bed.

Walthamstow has ROUS !

I thought Rodents Of Unusual Size only lived in the Fire Swamp. Or is that the same thing as Walthamstow ?

Walthamstow is probably not dissimilar to a Fire Swamp, only with less fire. And err, less swamp...

I love local news. Sadly I was without a camera the day I walked to work and encountered the splash 'KILLER FOAM' TAKES OVER CITY. (I suspect the inverted commas were telling, though, as I am still alive.)
