Just a little note...

May 28, 2004 01:23

I'm going to be traveling through Jutland for the next 8 days or so, so no livejournaling or e-mail or whatever. Just wanted to let you know ahead of time. Also...I promise to update with a real journal entry when I get back. It will be interesting. I might even write some sort of Denmark journal or something. Might...yeah right.

Oh man -that once happened to me. I was only "gone" for four days and my parents were convinced I was dead. I was studying in Augsburg and I spent a few days in Vienna and Grindelwald Switzerland (near Interlaken) and my parents had called my university, which in turn called my advisor in Germany who called me about an hour after I walked in the door on a Wednesday morning. "You should call your mother," he said. Ugg. My parents weren't happy.

...is it too late to ask for a postcard?

If you don't mind it being sent from Germany?

it's all good. in fact, if you want to save on postage, i wouldn't mind if you sent it from new york. (and if you'd like to skip the postage altogether, hand deliveries are always appreciated!)

i peeked at your photo albums: very, very beautiful. but incidentally...did the girl know the feather was in her hair?!

absolutely not. and the beauty of digital cameras is that I was able to tap her on the shoulder, hand her my camera and have her look at a picture (taken five seconds ago) of her head with a feather in it and be surprised. See? Aren't they awesome? Now go get one yourself and join in the fun! (by the way: that was my former danish teacher.)

I just wanted to say that I've enjoyed your journal--and wish that I was in Jutland, too!

Enjoy yourself there!

Oh, and I recall you asking me about Frisian on another journal: I speak Westerlauwers Frisian but am very interested in orthographical history of Nord Frisian as well.

I did have a great time! You should see my pictures!

I'm curious as to why you focus a lot on orthography. I personally find it much more interesting to see how spoken language varies and changes. And (I might have already asked this) but which dialect of Norwegian do you speak? Bergenese?

I do speak Bergenese ( ... )
