Dunno if you're really into sports, but there's an NHL team in San Jose, in fact their arena is a mile from the con hotel. There's a game on Thurs night (the 21) and another one the 28 (tho dunno if you'd stay that long)

And Disney is great, but yes, an extra 5 hour drive or so :3

San Fransisco is nice, and not TOO far. Lots of stuff to do there. I also there there is a very nice Japanese garden in San Jose. :3
