So here's the thing. People who write about games for a living play a lot of games, and they have an incisive eye towards game balance factors, etc. But they're not necessarily good at games. I'm not even going to attempt most of the challenges. Aside from the easy ones like "Destroy X amount of enemies" or "Destroy a Robot Master with only your Mega Buster", I got a slightly harder one by accident ("Get through a level without stopping").

I've nailed 4 Robot Masters. Unfortunately, the last four I've never even faced before because their stages are ripping me new ones (Tornado Man, Magma Man, Hornet Man, and Concrete Man).

Yeah, I breezed through Galaxy Man, then got Splash Woman after a couple more tries. I got Concrete Man this morning. I'm betting you're stuck on the elephants. They're not bad after you learn their patterns (like everything else).

I got that one by accident too, which is good, because it probably would have been really hard to do intentionally. I also did a level without shooting (wasn't too bad), and I still have yet to use any Energy or Mystery tanks, or used any special weapons on a boss, so I'll see if I can keep that going.

The time trials are going to be the tricky ones.

If you can nail Plug Man without a special weapon or Energy Tank, you will have my heartiest congrats.

I got him down to 1 pixel TWICE last night and then moved on in frustration. A lot of it depends on luck, though, as his patterns are pretty heavily randomized.
