This is another rant. It will likely be eerily similar to my rant about the TV Guide channel ( Read more... )

And I do download some shows, but they're still encoded from recorded TV. The corner promo won't be so easily escaped.

real americans don't watch movies with subtitles.

unless they propagate racial stereotypes and have massive product placement.

i feel you though, i watch very little TV and it still annoys the piss out of me.

It was Rush Hour 2, for chrissakes. What's more American* than Chris Tucker? Oh, I see. You allowed the Rush Hour series with your exception.

I think that might be why it annoys us. Because we don't watch frequently, or haven't watched in a long time, we're not desensitized to these shenanigans.

*Loud and obnoxious

I do watch a lot of TV. I don't watch anything that does that. I've seen what you're talking about (animated, with audio, swirling giant promos).

Two possible solutions:

1. Netflix
2. Showtime

Anything that is not available from one (or usually both) of those options is basically worthless anyway.

And as a bonus, netflix just lowered their prices. For everyone, including existing customers. I was stymied, until I read that they had their first-ever loss of customers this quarter.
