There’s a whole five dollars inside and Dean’s face goes all funny and tight when he sees it.
Wow. I love the choice you made to show us this from Sam's POV, sheltered from the dangers of their situation.

Dean stitiching up his Dad, giving up his coat so Sam can stay warm, and taking his brother to the store, buying precisely $5 of food and five-finger discounting the rest of what they need. Using a butterfly knife on the cereal pack so Sammy can get his favorites into his coat. Jesus.

Damn fine writing.

Thank you. I figured it would be both more and less angsty to have a clueless wee!Sam as narrator. It gives the harsh realities of their situation an extra bit of distance.
