Love this story, and I love the chapter.

I guess I feel that him never having killed a person before is not canon. He must have hunted werewolves or vampires before, both who are frequently in human form when killed. Also, demons take meatsuits.

I don't know...Dean's breakdown seemed slightly out of character and just distracted me from the otherwise amazingness of this story.

Well, actually, this story takes place pre-season 1, so Dean's never been up against a demon or a vampire before and the last time he hunted a werewolf he was a teenager. I based his reaction here on his reaction to killing the guy in Devil's Trap. He was all badass when he fired the shot, but he had this horrified holy shit look on his face when he went to help Sam up. Maybe we just have different takes on how Dean would have been before all the shit he went through in the series hardened him.

Aw, Jack took the gun away! At first I was annoyed with him about that, but then I remembered that this is a pre-series Dean, and killings monsters would be different. So I was glad.

Dean still had the knife though, so he still got to be a badass. He did go pale though. Jack said the perfect words - John would have said the same thing if they'd been on a hunt.

Can't wait for more, of course.
