This year, more than any other, it's crucial to donate instead of buying stuff. People who have a lot and don't really "need" another scarf or gloves or DVD or bath supplies basket can go without. . . and feel luckier for having whatever those things might have cost DONATED to local homeless shelters. Those places are THE hardest hit in bad times when everyone tightens the belt. They rely on public funds.

Same for animal shelters, who will have to turn away into the cold many homeless animals. It's unthinkable!

I'm demanding that anyone who wants to gift me just please send something, even just $5, to a shelter in their community. That will make me feel warm and fortunate this winter season.

I do think it is a good idea. Most people have to much stuff any way.
