I'm not sure if I like Brooke so much better than Bruce because she's a woman or because she's just a more interesting, more thoughtful person. I think about how the city is terrified of the Bat and wonder if those same gangsters would be nearly as frightened if they knew. I also think her reactions to Rachel ring more true than MovieBruce's, because I never believed that relationship for a minute, putting it down to the obligatory "hi, look how heterosexual I am" show. Here, I can feel a very restrained but genuine longing (also in the piece you sent me, just i'm reading this as well, finally. *hangs head*)
I love as well the bits where she needs to make allowances with the suit, because of her shape, and the reactions to her from these men around her. That little breakfast scene with Alfred was so sweet, and funny. See how much Alfred loves his Wayne, no matter what. ;)
The main reason I felt the need to write this was to see what would happen if Bruce weren't exactly always at the top of the heap. Don't get me wrong, a wealthy, attractive white woman isn't anywhere near the bottom here in the US or in other Western countries, but overseas--at times, she's not top tier like Bruce is. In fact, in some places and situations in the world, being a good-looking white woman is dangerous. I wanted to explore that dichotomy between the person Brooke is and what she becomes
