As always, the come down from con is a gradual process with many thoughts, ideas and plans rolling around in the head. The following things do not necessarily have any relation to each other ( Read more... )

I keep forgetting to mention to you and V. that I noted while dancing like a maniac Saturday night, the make-up did not rub off while I was dancing...and I assume I was sweating at least somewhat (though maybe not as much as usual). I suspect the cuff caused more problems because of the edges of the metal than the sweating.

I've been rolling it around in my head curious if I just had my uber "I am not your plaything" vibes going out, or if it's something else. *shrugs*

I think there was a combination of the "they're painted...I don't want to mess them up" vibe and the "oh god, she'll EAT me" vibe going on there. Probably more of the former though...since the latter doesn't seem to stop overly aggressive geeks.

hrm - both are interesting points. I think the metal cuff was worse because it held the moisture close to the skin where it couldn't just evaporate.

that probably didn't help...

and I suppose I should note, that while I doubt the aggressive geeks are going to be put off by the "back the hell away" vibe (see Chelleanne77's experiences for proof of that), I can't be certain as I've never been grabbed, pinched, poked, groped or otherwise handled in an uninvited fashion at con.

I could be offended or let my ego get bruised by that, but I think I'm just going to count myself really, really lucky.

Ditto that - got the ego fed enough in otherways, I'm thankful for the lack of unwanted groping.

Costumer question: Considering the lack of size of the actual costumes, did you opt for full body makeup before dressing?

As to the non-touching issues..

I can only hope that more folks are learning the "touch only when asked or if you really truely know the person doesn't mind being touched."

However, it's more likely that you were putting out no touch vibes. Not in the bad ass, "I'll break your hand" manor, but in the "I'm hot and you'd better be strong enough to handle it" manor. That can scare most guys away.

I noticed during the photo shoot, that all 3 of you would look me directly in the eyes, when I was directing you into the poses (Reminder: Get a photographers pose book). You all had confidence in your poses, in projecting your sexuality, in being in the moment 100%.

You could really understand that the "Slave" Women were really the ones in charge.

We briefly thought of using stockings, but after researching the original footage, we realized that we'd have to do full-body paint to do everything right, not to mention, the color matching issues. Since I already had an airbrush, the next step wasn't a difficult one to come up with. The air compressor happened after we realized how many SCUBA tanks would be required to paint one smallish human.

We did near full body makeup before dressing. We chose not to cover certain areas depending on how the costume was to fall, but we definitely wanted to perpetuate the illusion that we'd gone with full body makeup.

I share your hope on the touching issue. And I am sincerely flattered by your comments regarding us and the photo shoot. I think a certain amount of it all is just learned with age - none of us are in our 20's so we don't have quite the neediness that might go with that sort of costume on a younger group of women I think.

And yes, the in charge vibe was what I think we were attempting to project ;-)
