I can imagine two possible feedback loops:

I'm already basically in a good mood, such that spike jamming into my head is annoying but keeps me on my toes.
Spike jamming into my head makes me miserable, and I have to smile fakely through my tears while hating the world and shouting OMG PLZ GET THIS @#$%ING THING OFF ME FML.

Somehow I think the second loop has a lower barrier to entry.
