Smartphone?

May 27, 2011 10:34

I got paid today, and today's session will be really rough (I say goodbye to my one-year+ therapist today and I'm already flailing about, not knowing what to do and/or feel), so do I buy that HTC Inspire smartphone I desperately want?

I'm thinking "yes." Geek toys are always great for comfort.

Input?

I've gotten to the point where I feel like a smartphone is almost a necessity, so the answer would be a resounding: YES!

Even with an iTouch and an iPad I carry around all the time?

(It's gotten so bad that I hear phantom blips as if I had a new email. *facepalm*)

I think even with those, there are a lot of good uses for a smart phone, that you aren't really going to get out of those, but it depends on what you use it for ( ... )

I actually don't have a car, so the driving bit doesn't apply to me, but I'm finding other uses for having Internet access everywhere. :D It is rather fantastic.

Btw, are you using an iPhone?

My iTouch and iPad are both earlier generations and don't have a camera on them, which I never figured I'd use because I have my lovely, although outdated, Nikon D80 with me, but having the new Inspire gives me the option of using the camera for those types of apps. I'm also not as socially coordinated as you seem to be, and I do try to keep some things separate, and I'm not really in a big city at all so most of what you said doesn't work too well for me. *shrug* Still, I'm not trading it in anytime soon.

Yes.

Have I mentioned that one of my job responsibilities is phone manager. I have about 300 mobile lines that I manage on a daily basis, many of which are smartphones. I've had very good luck with HTC phones and I use one myself. Mine's an old Touch Pro that desperately needs an upgrade. I'll likely go with the Touch Pro 2, but only because Sprint sold me a whole load of them for $.99 each. I've also got a few Evos and Heroes out there that people seem to really like.

Actually, I think you did. :)

Thanks for the tips. It almost went for the Motorola Atrix or the Samsung Infuse but both were $100 more, the Atrix I didn't really like, and the Infuse was way too big for my small hands. As it is, the Inspire is pretty big. At least I can cover that with my hand; the Infuse I couldn't.

I could have waited for an iPhone but with the iTouch it was rather redundant. That and I wanted an Android phone so...there you go! :)

I asked hubby (he's the gadget freak in our house after all) and he says go for it. That's apparently the android version of the phone he has right now (he has windows one) and he loves it :)

Thanks for asking hubby (and thank you Dev's hubby!). :D

I'm glad I went for it although it tells me I have email before Gmail even knows it, which is really bizarre. It was a nice birthday present to myself. Now I just need to name it.

I did see the Windows phones they had there but the interface wasn't all too pretty. Plus, Android. Hehe.

(I'm open for name suggestions but no George, alright? The phone is not a troll!)

well obviously not George, that would get too confusing, lol.

I was thinking maybe Marvin, or perhaps Robby, or Max (you could drop the 404 bit I think) or Deckard, or, oooh, how about Gort?

sorry, I seem to be channelling Ten today, my brain is running away with me, lol. not to mention my geek is showing too

*is ashamed at having to look up all of those names, except for Deckard*

...I think I need to go work on some computer hardware to reinstate my geek cred. Hang on....

*conquers world via video games* Hahahaha!

Supposedly, according to my (now gone) therapist, I have a very busy brain. I take that as a compliment. I suppose that means I channel Ten everyday. Oh my...that may not be so good. (Read: I understand Ten speak).
