Title: The Test 3/3
Rating: PG-15
Summary: It’s Rock Week in the Idol mansion, Season 8. And it never. ends.
Warning: Time loops? I feel silly warning for that.

Unfortunately, Adam is Adam. So every damn time Kris tries to show him how he feels, Adam seems to sense it and ditches him before he can ‘make the biggest mistake of his life’.

Today is the twenty-ninth time he’s relived this day. He’s this close to punching Gokey in the face and even closer to just tying Adam to the bed so he can’t run away. He’s getting to the point to where he wants to jump off the stage and rip Cowell a new one, too.

“Well you’re awfully grumpy today.” Kris resist the very, very powerful urge to flip Adam off. Adam wants him to get out of this day, doesn’t he? Then why the hell won’t he let him confess so he can move into Thursday already.

Because Adam is Adam. His mind offers. He’s trying to let you not make a bit mistake, confessing that you love him kinda falls into that category seeing as you’re married, doesn’t it?

He hesitates for a few moments before opening the nightstand drawer beside him, slipping his wedding ring off and dropping it in. He tries not to think about how much lighter his hand feels without it. He hears Adam’s pen scratching away behind him.

Kris actually does end up punching Danny today. He managed to wait until they got back to the mansion but as soon as he said - for the twenty-ninth time - how great he sounded, he couldn’t handle it anymore. He ripped himself out of Adam’s grip and swung, and when his knuckles connected with his jaw he smiled. He almost wished he’d done it everyday.

He did, anyway, until Adam’s hands squeezed a little too tightly around his arms and he was dragged back to their room. As soon as the door was closed Adam crossed his arms and Kris shrunk a little under those piercing blue eyes. “What the hell was that for?!”

He rubbed his knuckles slightly and shook his head, dropping his eyes to his feet. “You saw what happened-”

“Oh, so you can just hit him for that?” Adam growled out. Kris didn’t think he could feel any smaller but then again he never really thought Adam would get this pissed. “I’m not saying he didn’t deserve it, but that’s not how you solve things; you can’t just go punching people when they screw you over.”

“I-” Adam held up his hand, leaning forward and Kris’s voice cracked slightly as he choked back the rest of his sentence.

“What happened to you…?” Adam’s voice was quieter this time around, and when Kris looked up his heart broke a little bit. “The Kris I know wouldn’t have done that.”

He lowered his head again, scuffing his shoe on the floor for a few seconds before he answered. “You’ve been avoiding me for the past few days.” He held up a hand as Adam opened his mouth to reply. “Twenty-nine Wednesdays, if you want to be specific.” Adam’s expression cleared and he leaned back against the door slightly. “The only way I could get out of this was to be honest with my feelings, about what I read.”

“Kris-”

“Adam, please.” His voice cracked slightly and he held up his naked hand. “I’m sure. So please, do not say I don’t want to do this because I swear if I have to relive today again I am going to punch you, too.” Adam smiled slightly at that then nodded slowly. Kris moved closer, until his knees bracketed Adam left leg against the door.

“Adam…” He inhaled deeply before moving his hands up to cup the taller man’s face, tilting it downward slightly. “I think- no. Twenty-nine days of you running away from me, each time it broke me apart.” He leaned up on his toes and smiled as Adam’s hands came around to lift him up slightly so he could finally reach those perfect lips he’d been trying to get for so long. “I know that I love you. And, maybe I always have but I didn’t know until I read those words you wrote for me.”

He drew his arms around Adam’s neck, pulling himself up so he was flush against the older man’s body. He pressed their lips together, a soft clicking sound echoing back at them when they parted. He looked at Adam through his lashes, chewing on his lip lightly. “Please say something.”

Adam grinned and lifted Kris up all the way, walking the two of them across the room. He collapsed on Kris’ bed, his body still pressed firmly against the smaller man’s. He leaned down and smashed their lips together, taking complete and utter control this time. Kris groaned slightly at how fierce the kiss was, how it made his body pulse and, like earlier, he couldn’t understand why he didn’t do this the first day. This time, though, there was no regret following.

He panted as soon as Adam drew back and shuddered as their shirts were thrown off across the room and the cool air hit his damp skin. Adam grinned and leaned down to suck lightly on his neck, making him arch into him with a whine. “I know that I love you, too.” He muttered into his skin. Kris smiled and pulled Adam closer around him, closing his eyes as the man continued licking lines all along his body.

“Oh no.” Kris shot up from the body as he woke up the next morning, five am, and Adam was humming in the showering. “What the hell! I did it!” He shot up from the bed then paused as he noticed that the song was different today. Instead of Cryin’ he was humming something else, something Kris couldn’t quite place. He picked up his phone, just to make absolutely sure, and felt like his face would split from the massive smile when he saw Thursday.

He couldn’t help it as he jumped around the room, flinging his arms in the air and cheering. In hindsight, this wasn’t that good an idea, seeing as his shirt from the other night was still on the floor. He yelped as he slipped back and fell on his ass, but it was different. He smiled and raced up, going to knock on the door then deciding otherwise.

“Kris?” He grinned at Adam’s surprised tone as he leapt into the shower spray, still in his boxers. “What are you doing?”

He giggled. “It’s Thursday.” He hugged Adam as tightly as he could. “It’s Thursday and not Wednesday again. And then I have you.” He leaned up on his toes and smashed their lips together, his heart leaping at the happy sound from Adam. “And everything is wonderful.”

Adam chuckled, draping his hands around Kris’ hips. “Okay, baby, but.” He pointed to the boxers. “Might wanna get out of those if you wanna stay here.”

Kris, grinning all the while, quickly threw them off and jumped right back into him.
