Rating: PG-13
Summary: Kris finds a cursed bracelet that contains the soul of an 'evil' prince; when he puts it on his shadow starts reacting in odd ways, like talking to him.

Notes: Random and silly and my first true fanfic. Adam and Kris and whoever else in this belong to themselves and I apologize in advance.

The silver band was intricate - worn out and blackening with age - but still in pretty good condition. The silver wrapped and twisted around, and buried underneath was a small sparkling sapphire that seemed to glow even more as Kris wrapped his hands around the jewelry. He was just minding his own business, strolling through the lot of the mansion to think, when he found the band. It shone out as if calling his name, and as soon as he saw it he knew he had to have it. Maybe not for himself but for Katy; a bit of cleaning up and it'd be good as new.

He thought about just keeping it in his pocket as he continued walking - he still hadn't decided what to perform yet, anyway - but as soon as he reached in he was reminded of the hole just big enough for the bracelet to slip through. He frowned and stared at it for a while before slipping it onto his wrist.

And that's where it all started.

A loud pop sounded as the bracelet clasped shut, and soon after he heard a loud sigh from behind. "Oh it feels so good to be out of there!" Kris jumped a foot when the person spoke behind him - the voice wasn't familiar; wasn't Danny and definitely wasn't Alli. He spun around and blinked when he didn't see anyone, and when he turned around the rest of the way there was still no sign of anyone else being in the garden.

"I-I must be really stressed out..." He sighed and took a few steps forward then blinked as he heard steps echoing his. He flipped around again and heard a groan.

"Will you please stop moving around? It's making me dizzy."

Kris leaned back a bit and gaped as he saw a figure standing close behind him. He wore all black, and his inky black hair was brushed back with a few strands hanging in his pale face. Steely gray eyes stared back in amusement. When Kris looked further back he saw that the man's boots melted into Kris' shadow. "Um..."

The man put his hands up. "Okay, yeah, I know this is a bit crazy but before you go passing out let me explain." He waited for Kris to look back up then smiled. "My name's Adam, and that ugly thing on your wrist is... well, I was going to say home but that would be your shadow at the moment."

"Wait, what?"

Adam held up a finger. "Don't interrupt, it's rude." He wrinkled his nose, Kris tried to ignore the voice that said it was cute. "And I'm evil and crap so you don't want to do that." He paused for a breath then launched into an explanation. "I'm using your shadow as a vessel right now because my dad got pissed I didn't want to take up the family business of terrorizing people; that's seriously so boring and considering I'd have to do it for a millennium or so I'd die from the amount of bored I'd be suffering through. Anyway, that bracelet there is cursed; my soul is bound to it and pretty much whoever wears it is offering up their shadow to me. And don't bother trying to get it off, it's on until you serve your term to me." He smiled as Kris looked up at him, his arms frozen behind his back where his fingers were scrabbling at the clasp. "I'm in your shadow, man. That and you're super easy to read. And everyone tries that."

"Well can you really blame them?" Kris frowned and dropped his hands to his sides. "I didn't think this would happen, you know. And this is really bad timing."

Adam shrugged. "Not my problem. Should teach you not to put on jewelry you find laying in the street." He looked Kris over for a moment then grinned. "But I'm glad you did, you're cute."

Kris looked up to the sky, desperately wishing the sun would just disappear for the rest of his life.

"So do you want to hear the conditions of this or just keep ignoring me?" Adam sounded annoyed; Kris wouldn't put it past him, considering Kris has been hiding in his dark closet for the last three hours. The only reason Adam was out now was because, well, Kris was human after all. And his stomach was beating him up and overall betraying him.

Kris sighed. "Look, you have to shut up. If anyone else sees you then I'm probably going to be examined or something and that's not exactly ideal so..."

Adam huffed. "You're the only one that can see and hear me. To everyone else I'm just your shadow..." Kris shuddered as he felt Adam lean forward as he walked, his breath ghosting past his as the shadow spoke. "If you'd let me explain fully you'd know that."

Kris grumbled and peered around before grabbing a soda and some cold pizza and rushing back downstairs to his room. "Fine, but once you're done I'm going back in the closet."

"You know denial isn't healthy, it might be the reason why you're so pissy all the time; pent up desire-"

"Just shut up and explain, already."

He heard Adam chuckle and mumble something before speaking again. "You're the only one that can talk to me and see me, you know that. You've already found out that I can only exist as long as your shadow exist." He growled out then sighed and started again. "There's no way to get rid of me unless you expel my soul from the bracelet or finish your term which is twenty-seven years." He held up a hand as Kris opened his mouth. "However old I am when I was trapped is how long the enslavement term lasts."

Kris paused for a moment, then swallowed. "How do I expel you or whatever?"

Adam grinned for a moment, then huffed out a laugh and shook his head. "Do you always talk dirty to strangers like this?" After being glared for a while he straightened up. "Well, you'd have to find the person who bound me to this in the first place."

Kris nodded. "Okay, your dad, where is-what?"

Adam shook his head. "My dad didn't directly do it. He just ordered someone else to do it. Some shaman; Tommy something-or-other." He flicked his hands dismissively. "Moving on; you can't remove or destroy the bracelet, as soon as it's off it pretty much sucks your soul into here with me, and keeps you until you finish the twenty seven years. It's not too fun so don't do it." Kris nodded and Adam thought for a few moments before crossing his arms and smiling. "I think that's it. Oh, and obviously don't tell anyone. They'll either try to remove the bracelet in which case you die or have you committed. Either one is bad."

Kris nodded and brushed his hands on his jeans, finished off his drink then stood. "Okay, one more question." Adam tilted his head with a playful smile; Kris swallowed. "Can you hear and see what I do when you're not here?"

Adam grinned. "Meaning you want to know whether or not I can see you 'expelling' for yourself?"

Kris blushed. "N-n-no. T-that's not... No." He frowned. "Just answer the damn question."

"Maybe. If I decide to pay attention, I usually leave my slaves be since their boring as dirt but you're interesting so I think I'll-"

"Bye Adam." Kris smirked as he walked into the dark of the closet and his shadow disappeared along with the voice. He picked up his guitar in the corner and started strumming out chords for his performance. He tried his best to ignore the rebellious thoughts that popped up circling around the gray eyed, dark haired man living in his shadow.
