Don't fail now, hold on to hope ‘cause I'm yours. I'm coming home to you soon, I'm coming home. ‘Cause the road is very worn and It's begging me to come back to you.
Kris grumbled and picked up his phone from the nightstand, bleary eyes taking in Adam’s name on the screen before he placed it to his ear. “You changed my ringtone.”
Adam chuckled. “Well hello to you to.” There was some ruffling of sheets in the background followed by Adam sighing. “I figured it fit.” He paused for a moment, Kris could almost hear his lips curling on the other end. “How’d your day go without me there?”
Kris let out a groan. With the lack of sleep he’d been getting he’d almost passed out in the studio and got scolded by the producer. “It’s like I’m back in high school or something.” He said after he told Adam, who was chuckling on the other end. “And now I have to sleep without you here to cuddle with.” He pouted. “I like cuddling.”
Adam laughed. “Well the next venue you can come to maybe we can cuddle some.” There was some more rustling then Adam’s voice again. “Vegas is next week, we’re staying there for a while.”
Kris grumbled. “I don’t wanna wait a week.” He settled into the bed, putting the phone between his head and the pillow. “I want you here now, Adam.”
Adam sighed. “I know, Kris. We only have a little more than a month left.” He hummed lightly through the phone and Kris’ eyelids drooped slightly. Adam chuckled as he yawned. “You should probably try to get some sleep. Don’t want to get yelled at again, do we?”
Kris frowned. “No, I wanna talk.” He stifled another yawn and stretched out on the bed. “How’d the concert go.”
“Same as always.” After a few seconds passed Adam started humming again, Kris’ eyelids dropped even more until his eyes were closed as sleep was quickly making it’s way to claim him. Just before he was completely out he heard Adam chuckle softly. “Night, Kristopher.”
“You’re very unfair.” Kris said as soon as Adam called again.
“Why Kris, I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Adam teased then settled into his bed with a sigh. “You’re very stubborn. You need your sleep. You haven’t been getting very much for a while.”
Kris shrugged. “I’m fine.” He settled on his stomach on the bed, shifting the pillow under his chest. “Anything interesting happen today?”
Adam paused for a moment then snickered. “Nope.” He sighed after a little while. “You’re laying in teenage-girl pose again.”
Kris blinked and looked back, his feet swinging back and forth above him and blushed. He laughed and rolled back over onto his back. “How do you always know that?”
Adam chuckled. “You have a certain tone of voice every time. It’s cute.” He shifted again. “Just like your blushing.”
Kris flushed some more and rolled his eyes, a smile on his lips. “How’d I end up with a dork like you?” Adam was quiet for a while then a crackling voice answered on the other end. “Oh crap.” Kris shifted. “Adam, what’s wrong?”
The older man let out a small sob and laughed. “Nothing. You…” He sniffled and let out a sigh, his voice back to normal. “You just seemed a lot like yourself there.” He paused and laughed. “Okay, sorry, that was confusing. Before… you know… happened, you used to say things like that to me all the time. I’m just happy that you’re starting to get that back.”
Kris was grinning then clicked his tongue. “I wouldn’t be if it wasn’t for you.”
Adam sniffed again, chuckling through his tiny hiccups. After a while he let out a sigh and Kris heard him flop onto the bed. “I miss you so much.”
“I miss you too.” Kris pulled the pillow down to wrap his arms around and frowned. “Pillows aren’t as much fun to cuddle with.”
Adam laughed again. “You and you’re cuddling.” He paused for a moment, yawning. “I promise I’ll make up when I get back.”
“You better.” Kris giggled as Adam made a small squeaking sound in faux-fear then yawned again. “I’ll let you get to sleep.”
“Same to you.” The sheets shifted some more and Adam let out a contented sigh. “I love you.”
Kris’ grin doubled. “Love you, too.” They said their goodbyes and Kris buried his face into the pillow, his smile and blush along with it, as he closed his eyes and fell asleep to Adam repeating those three words.
“Hey Krissy.” Adam sounded especially cheery today. “How’s my loverboy doing today?”
Kris arched a brow at the name and shook his head, setting his guitar aside as he leaned into the couch. “Not as great as you, I’m guessing.” He chuckled. “What’s up?”
Adam didn’t answer for a while then the phone crackled a bit. “Wait a sec, I gotta do something.” Kris nodded and waited for Adam to come back, then blinked as the doorbell rang. He got up from the couch, phone still in hand and unlocked the door.
He dropped the phone when he opened it.
“Be careful.” The tall, raven-haired, blue-eyed man in the door way yelped as he just barely kept the phone from suffering the fall. He clicked his phone shut and smiled as he stuffed the two devices into his jacket pockets. “Does this answer your question?”
Kris stared for a bit longer before he jumped Adam, wrapping his arms around him. “You jerk.” He muttered into the shirt.
Adam chuckled and enveloped Kris. “I love you, too, babe.”
“What about the other concerts?” Kris looked up at Adam. “Don’t tell me you canceled them.”
Adam grinned. “Nope. Tommy’s gonna be an uncle soon so we delayed for a little bit so he could be there.” He pressed a kiss to Kris’ temple. “And we’re on the last few anyway, so we’ll just have to go to San Diego and come back here.” He shrugged. “Nothing big.”
Kris reached up onto his toes to bring their lips together and groaned happily as Adam’s hands clasped around his head and neck to hold him in place. He swung his legs up around Adam’s waist at the same time as Adam’s hands reached around to hold him up. He wrapped his arms around Adam’s neck to hold them together as Adam walked them to the closest bedroom.
Kris smiled up at Adam as they collapsed onto the bed, Adam’s hands now on either side of Kris’ head holding himself up. “I missed you so much.” He leaned up for another kiss and shuddered as one of Adam’s hands wandered down to Kris’ stomach, teasing the small strip of skin with just the tips of his fingers. He wiggled under the fingers, arching up into them slightly and blushing at Adam’s chuckle.
“Ditto.” He pressed them together again then fell onto the bed beside him. Kris blinked a few times then glared over at Adam. “What?”
Kris rolled his eyes and traced his fingers along Adam’s stomach, watching him squirm slightly. “You’re a tease.”
Adam huffed. “You’re no different.” He flicked Kris’ hand away then threw himself around Kris, pulling the smaller man into his body and wiggling a little. “And I just promised cuddling.”
Kris rolled his eyes again but snuggled into Adam’s form anyway. He inhaled deeply and smiled; now that Adam was back it finally felt like home to him. Like the only place Kris was truly safe and at peace was in Adam’s arms. He didn’t think he’d mind that.
