Room 407, Friday afternoon-evening-night

Sky felt exhausted after leaving the welcoming picnic, even though he hadn't really done much. Admittedly, he wasn't keen on the idea of having an overenthusiastic turtle for a roommate, but Mikey, with his happiness and exuberance, in a way reminded him of Bridge, so that was a little consolation. Some of his fears that he wouldn't fit in at ( Read more... )

Not seeing his little brother at the picnic, Teddy headed to the dorms for some searching.

And was pleasantly surprised to find the guy on his floor.

He knocked lightly on the door. "Hello?"

"Um, the spying class, the one on religions and the creating your own country class," Teddy replied, kinda at a loss for their real names.

He should have written them down like Sky.

"Sounds interesting," said Sky. "I thought about taking the spying one, but I didn't want to overwhelm myself too much. Plus, being sneaky isn't really my style."

"I'm not to good at it either," Teddy admitted. "But the teacher is really helpful about some of the other things."

Sky took a brief moment to berate himself for not introducing himself to his teachers at the picnic before leaning against the door frame, trying to think of anything else to ask.

"What about homework?" he wanted to know. "I'm not used to having any, beyond practicing physical drills usually, so I want to be prepared to do it."

Teddy shrugged a bit helplessly. "It depends on the teacher. Most don't really give out homework."

He might be a little crappy at this older brother thing. "But there are other things to do! There are clubs and stuff. And you can usually scrounge up food if you visit a common room."

Sky nodded. "Yeah, it said some of that in the handbook." He grinned a little sheepishly when his stomach growled. "Excuse me. Speaking of food, my stomach's reminding me I haven't fed it all day. I might go into town later and check things out there; I've been meaning to explore but keep getting sidetracked. I don't really mind, though. It's good to get to know people if I'm going to be here for a while."

"Check out Jeff, God of Biscuits," Teddy suggested enthusiastically. "They have the best pastries ever. And then The Perk for coffee and Ching Tai has really good Chinese food."

He might be babbling a little now.

"Sounds good," said Sky, fumbling to find something to write these things down on. "Normally I'm not one to eat much junk, but hey, today's a special day and I can always run it off, anyway. Thanks for all your help, Teddy."

Nodding, Teddy smiled again. "I'm just down the hall in 422 if you need to talk or anything."

"Thanks again," said Sky, grinning back, glad that he'd made another friend that day. It had been easier than he thought to get along with everyone, even if some of them did tell him wild stories about vampires and magic plagues. "422..." He quickly scribbled that down. "Well, I'd better finish unpacking my things. I'm sure I'll see you around, though."

"I'll stop by when classes start up to check on you," Teddy said. "Just so you don't get too freaked out by some of the things around here."

And probably bringing some muffins. Or cookies.

Now he really wanted to go to J,GoB.

"Sounds good," said Sky. "I'm sure I won't get freaked out too easily, though." Unless Jenny was telling the truth, he added silently.

"Then you'll fit right in!" As long as aliens and wizards and glitter oh my! didn't worry him.

"Good to know." Sky hesitated a little, then admitted, "I was a little nervous about that. Not fitting in, I mean. I've been told I have a tendency to drive people away."

"Not here!" He informed Sky cheerfully. "We're all a bunch of weirdos here, but mostly friendly ones."
