Number of Times Teal'c Says "Indeed": 2 thedrowned March 25 2010, 19:37:26 UTC
1. Colonel Ronson seems to be equally condescending to everyone… is it a personality trait, or is he just trying, badly, to prove that “he is in charge”?
Neither. I think that he's a little stressed. He's the new captain of the Prometheus and has to deal with the shakedown, arguably the most stressful and difficult mission anyone has to deal with (you know, submarine shakedown maiden voyages during WWII? yeah.) Plus, with things going wrong, he's likely to become annoyed and frustrated when people flail mindlessly and ask him what to do, being new, I think he feels at a loss and snaps a bit. He's on edge, basically. Plus, when the aliens get aboard, he feels a little put off because he must play nice with Kalfas while batteries are aimed at the Prometheus. He probably doesn't want to bite his tongue much for him.
2. After all they’ve been through (burnt out goa’uld control crystals, non-working DHDs, etc.) why *wouldn’t* SG-1 and any Earth spaceship travel with backups for critical systems?
    I think it depends. I think for one thing, ( ... )

1. Aw, you're so nice. :) I agree that he is under a lot of stress, but man, that level of arrogance doesn't just go away when things have calmed down!

2. Hmm, I would think that the purpose of a "shakedown cruise" is to see what, if anything doesn't work. To put something under stress, especially an engine, to ensure that it performs to spec. If not a back-up of a certain part, they should at least have a back-up plan for engine failure (or failure of engine-related parts) beyond "hope the Asgard get here in time and/or that we are near a planet with a stargate!". It just seems like an obvious plot device, and one that makes the SGC look short-sighted.

4. Aw, I'm sure they'd love Hamburger Helper! And your company. :)

6. Ooh, interesting! I tend to think that once they start exploring, they'll see the truth of their history too. Hopefully the SGC sets them up with some friendly addresses to ease them into Gate exploration!
