I'm having past-angst.

I should make a mental note to myself never to reread Dreamland ever again (sorry, Sarah Dessen!), because all it does is piss me off. And there's nothing worse (or better?) than feeling homicidal and creative at the same time. I was picturing a crying ( Read more... )

Man. I didn't even find out about all of that till...last New Year's Eve! The jerk. Can't believe I didn't know about it when it was going on, I would've pounded the creep!!! Or at least scarred him emotionally.
Yeah, I have no patience for Caitlin in Dreamland. I know she had a lot of stuff going on, but how could she just LET A GUY HIT HER? I dare any guy to try and hit me, or any of my friends for that matter, and see what happens to him! For I am Caroline, crusading ninja feminist warrior princess! Lalalalalalalala!!!!!!!!

You know what?
Crusading ninja feminist warrior princesses are vulnerable to abuse too. There's a lot of subtle manipulation that goes on in abusive situations, and in many cases people are not aware that what they are going through IS abuse until they get out- if they ever do, because in reality? Most women can't, for a variety of reasons.
It isn't as simple as "he hits, I leave." I wish it was. More accurately, I wish it was "he doesn't hit."
