I've got this restless thing going on again. I hate it when this happens. It's the feeling of wanting to do everything and having the energy to be everywhere at once, but not physically being able to

I understand the problem you describe. It usually happens with me when I wish to continue my story, or create a vast program. I can do tons of little tasks, to wile away the day and keep me distracted, but at the end of the day nothing really got done.
The best thing I have found is to force yourself to sit down somewhere quiet, focus on one, simple task and use that time to think. I usually test game after game after game of Magic, myself, as I can do it mindlessly, or take a walk and just breathe.
Once you can funnel your energy into one task, you can persue it for a long, long time! Don't give up, even though it is frustrating, but try to narrow your scope!
I can understand how that might work for some things, but in my experience it doesn't work much for channeling Insane Songwriting Skills. I did make some progress last night, but there have to be a few things in place for the ball to really roll. 1: Inspiration or an idea of some sort in a coherent-ish form. 2: Free time, and lots of it. Alone. 3: Something musical to actually set words to. More often than not I'll have 1 and 2, but almost never 3. Or I'll have 3, but not 1 or 2... You get the idea.
Ahh, yes, I suppose songwriting is a very unique thing to try and master. I guess I'm not much help in this matter... everytime I start to write part of my story/book thing, it comes from sheer "random inspiration" and I just write as much down as I can before I run out of the creative energy/get distracted by shiny things.
I demand to hear the playing of awesome music, though, at some point :P
Well, if I can get this one song worked out and nick some equipment from school, hearing of music might be a real possibility. In fact, I may never shut up.
