I have this cold that everyone else in the world seems to have as well. What is it with these things -- do they hit everyone at once? I never get how that seems to happen -- one week everyone is feeling fine and the next, poof. Walking zombies ( Read more... )

Oh, poor Lola! I don't know why I have such a soft heart for animals with health troubles, but I think a lot of it is that they put such *trust* in their humans and sometimes we just can't make it all better.

She had ANOTHER one between lunch and when we got home from work. It's because I forgot to give her her medication in the morning one day last week -- she got it 5 hours late (and don't think I haven't been beating myself up about that ever since. I KNOW how important it is that she get her medication precisely on schedule, and yet I still forgot it.).

It kills me that she probably doesn't know what's happened/happening to her and that there are times when I'm not around to soothe her afterwards. I know that there are WAY more serious health problems she could have, but that doesn't help me feel any better about it. She is just the sweetest thing ever and it's not fair.

The guilt is awful, isn't it? I didn't notice Duchess' diabetes had come back until she'd lost two and a half pounds, which is a LOT on a cat, and I felt like the worst kittymom ever. Augh!

It isn't fair, that's for sure. But Lola has humans who love her and who give her good food and a warm place to sleep, and that's gotta count for something. I have to tell myself that too. And both Lola and Duchess still love scritches!
