It's a favorite of mine also. One thing that I find fascinating, is that in most of the movie adaptations that have been made, D'Artagnon's landlord's wife is always rewritten, usually a young niece. I suppose that you can't have the hero have an affair with a married woman.

I know that's why they changed it for some of the earlier versions. The modern ones have no such excuse ;) The one with Michael York keeps Constance as Msr. Bonacieux's wife, I think.
