I can't be the only person in this city who finds it completely bizarre that after a random power outage and that crazy monster howling all night we're worried for ten seconds and then making plans for one of the lamest holidays ever recognized ( Read more... )

It is a psychological defense mechanism.

Ignoring imminent danger?

Not sure how that happened o_0 crimsonyx April 4 2009, 15:24:01 UTC
Ah, but that's the thing. It's not imminent. If they live until tomorrow, they want to live a normal life.

It's called hope. It's the only thing they have to cling to.

I'm all for hope, I just don't see how anyone can live normal in this place.

I guess people have been here so long that they're trying to rebuild their lives. It is foolish to ignore what's been happening...I think I've been trying to do the same for too long.

I am curious though at what caused the power cut and why the Clover Monster was making so much noise...

And I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it but, people have been here so long. This isn't a situation people should have to live with long-term.

I know, most are treating this place like a holiday camp! (if you cut out all the danger elements) It gets to me that we're all not working together to try and escape. Yes there have been a few attempts, but we haven't all put our heads together and figure this out.

Hm, maybe it's more recently since that...I don't know, that strange hacker or machine or whatever it was contacted us on the net, that it feels like we're all waiting for something to happen. Then again I can't say we've all been doing nothing because I know that's not true. Like that woman named Aya for instance.

Aya has been doing a lot, but there has to be more that can be done.

Hey, why stress over what you can't control?

And what is this holiday, anyways?

Who's to say we can't control it?

Valentine's Day? It's in theory a holiday about love but in practice it's just an excuse for card and chocolate companies to cash in and to make single people feel lousy for their lifestyle choices.

It is weird that everyone moved on so quickly for Valentine's day. You'd think they would be worried about something so sudden and huge!

... Er. I realize I'm. I'm not focusing on that right now too. But I honestly did for a while.

Some of us also don't know what else to do here. I don't know computers or technology well enough to help figure out what happened with the blackout, and I really don't want to get that close to the monster.

I don't think anyone should get near that monster. But still, everyone has a use, in some way or another. I'm not that great with technology either, but I've been doing what I can in the grunt work field.

Hmm, that's true... What exactly have you been doing? I think I can handle grunt work, even here.
