I saw something as I scrolled my flist the other day and I didn't think much of it, and I could be even misremembering what it really was, too. But it was something to do with Challenging yourself. Ficwise. Write something you've never done before

I had to explain to a friend that one of my favourite couples ever and like the first great love story I've loved was Seishirou and Subaru. And then are like, really really fucked up.

Bad romances are the best though.

I'm not interested in scat, but I've even managed to write it once.

Of all things, the only thing I've never been able to write is bloody comedy. I seriously can't do it.

What Minekura does so very well is to create two characters who by themselves are broken and screwed up and incomplete (Gojyo and Hakkai, Kubota and Tokito, Sanzo and Goku) who add up to make what is essentially one perfectly functional whole person. So Kubota's desperation to rescue Tokito is partly out of love, but also on a deeper level because without Tokito he is incomplete, and if Tokito were to die he would never be complete again.

The feeling of Volume six is so very feral - Kubota is almost like a force of nature; like a hurricane surging towards shore - unstoppable. That's what made it a powerful read for me.

I got a schmoop_bingo card because I really suck at schmoop. I can write people enjoying themselves and being silly and banter-y and having a good time, but pure fluff eludes me. There's always a tinge somewhere, some problem hanging over them. I think it's because I generally find writing fluff to be boring. There's not enough conflict for me. I got the card to push myself out of my box. (Because if it was up to me I'd spend all my time writing Gren/Vicious blood play. What can I say, I just like torturing my favorites.)
