I wasn't going to post about this--again--but I guess I am. I just want to say that I don't really enjoy Wank. I get annoyed when I open my flist and there's a million posts upset about one thing or another. The point of fandom is fun, I think. And it's not fun when people are posting about this shitty thing or that when they would normally would

I also thank you for forcing me to really think today. My first reaction when I saw this was extreme discomfort, which led to what I posted later. You put a mirror up to my face and I didn't particularly care for everything that I saw there.

We all do. I really get your post, too, because as a white person--even a white person of middle eastern descent--I've got privilege and I need to be actively learning how not to be racist, especially on accident.

It is uncomfortable. It should be uncomfortable. I think that's how people start paying attention.

Definitely. We all have biases, but they can be overcome if we make an effort to do so. The problem is that too many people don't really care to make the effort.
