When she invited him to hang out by the pool Romano had expected everything and nothing at all. After all, she was the one who didn't get the hint so it made sense for her to try and make it up to him. He didn't have to bring food, it was just a way of easing into conversation.
And because he hadn't had a chance to eat real food in a while. It was the only reason his brother came along for the ride.
Why would he even invite the eyesore? It was for the food, obviously.

Romano kept sulking as he and his brother walked towards the pool. He began drilling rules into his brother's head, an entire list of things that were mentionable and things that were punishable by death. "And if you mention anything about Spain, you're dead got it?"

"Ve~ Why?" Feliciano asks with a smile, "Spain is nice!" he says and peaks into the bag of food he's carrying, sighing happily at the smell of pasta, "ahhhh," he says and turns back smiling at his brother, "Ve~ why so many rules brother? does Drualt have lots of rules? Ve~" He asks.

"Spain is also a reputation ruiner." He had not forgotten the last time he went out with Spain. The damn bastard not only stole all of the women but those very same women didn't think he was interested in them. Was it not obvious enough that he was working his charms on them? Apparently not.

"Not that I know of. She's more of a rule breaker." Which was true as far as he was concerned. There was that thing at the pier. His face took on a familiar tint as he remembered that day but he shook his head rigorously to banish the thought. It wouldn't do to think of such things now when sitting not too far from him was the very woman he was thinking of.

He bowed his head a little as they approached her. He could see her blue bikini from the corner of his eye but he couldn't look her in the face just yet. Not when he could still feel his cheeks heating up. But he would not look like a fool in front of his brother. So he squared his shoulders and turned to face her. "Hey..." he said, the word sounding almost too aggressive to be a proper

Drualt looks up as she hears them coming, she smiles at him, "Hey," she says. Like always, Drualt caught on quickly to Romano's mood and emotions, nervous now obviously.

"Hey Felici," She says with a little smile, "If you guys feel like swimming after ya eat, there are more suits in there," Drualt tells him, pointing at a tiki style dressing room around the other side of the pool.

"Pasta huh?" Drualt asks, that was obvious, what else would it be? "Yummm," she chuckles.

Exactly. Not if he was seriously hurt. Which he wasn't. Was she worried about him-- oh.
"See? I'm fine. ...Are you?" She was starting to scare him... What was wrong? It wasn't a scary story at all. It was real! "...Nothing happened. It's not like the fucking Devil jumped out of the lava pit." Although it may as well have been. What sort of thing (that wasn't a freak of nature from one of Greece's or Granpa's stories) lives in a volcano?

Drualt nods, "Yeah...fine," She says, and looks over at him.
She makes a face at the mental image of the devil jumping out of the lava pit at Romano...not a good idea...."Are you sure your ok?" she asks, resting her hand on top of his.

...and of course something would move in the bushes while Drualt was on edge, "EEK!" She shouts and jumps on Romano, comically.

There were many things in the world that could scare Romano. He was just better at managing his fear than his brother was (again, he really hoped that was true. Otherwise he wasn't sure if he could live with a macho younger sibling). However, Drualt was slowly climbing back up the list of things that deserved a red flag. She was already on it but that wasn't the point.

"Yes I'm fine." he mumbled, as he felt her hand settle upon his own. He felt himself blush from the simple contact. She was concerned about him? It was a sweet (ish) thought. Maybe she was actually just genuinely afraid for his safety? Maybe she---

He yelled as they fell backward, his back slamming into the pavement.
"What? What?!" Romano hadn't heard anything, much less a little noise in the bushes.

"Quelque chose est là-dedans!!" Of course, French would be the first thing to surface when Drualt was under a wave of fright.

She isn't about to get off of him either...to some people, it may have seemed like she planned it, like when a girl asks a guy to watch a scary movie with her, just so she can cuddle up to him, and watch him be all cute making sure shes alright...but no, this was Drualt, being...Drualt.

"Que faire si il est un monstre?!" She squeals and squeezes Romano, hiding her face in the fabric of his shirt.

The creature in the bushes moved slowly. It's true identity couldn't be revealed yet, not when there was something possibly exciting going on!
He hadn't meant to sneak up on the two teachers.

Sealand was hoping to find something to publish in his still brand new newspaper especially covering all that went on during his travels, but he ended up in hiding anyway. It seemed boring at first (just two people talking) but then he realized just who they were. What better for a rumor section of the newspaper than a teacher section? Romance was not something he was interested in but he had read somewhere that he could boost the "female demographic" by introducing that sort of material.

In other words, he had a story and he was sure Laney would love to hear it.

He tried to sneak a little bit closer but he unknowingly snapping a few more brittle sticks than before. The sound they made was tremendously loud.

...Something did move in the bushes.

If there was any a time when he could be something of a ...hero (dare he say it?) now was as good as any, right? He gathered what little courage he had and crept closer to the bush.

There was nothing in there, he kept telling himself even though he was tensed up and ready to bolt as soon as danger reared its ugly head.

He leaned in close, only to jump back as far as he could when he heard whatever was in there make a horrible sound-like a man getting choked or (an impossibly) large creature (named England) rising from the very depths of hell itself...

Drualt watches silently, biting her lip rather hard…surprisingly her lip wasn’t bleeding yet, which it probably should be considering how much harder she bit it with each step Romano took closer to the bush.

A small squeal escapes Drualt’s lips when Romano jumps back, but she covers her mouth the muffle the rest.
She slowly stands up, and gets a little closer, mere curiosity could overcome her fear.

TherewassomethingtheredammittherewassomethingTHEREdammit--

He tried to stand his ground but in the face of whatever potential threat that hid in the bushes.... Romano wasn't willing to take any chances. ...But Drualt was with him. He couldn't just run as far away as he could (yet, and not without her. What would she think of him then?).

Instead of bolting, Romano backed up until he's nearly standing beside Drualt. When he thought back to this moment in the days to come, he’d curse himself for standing so damn close to her. Then the whole thing could have been avoided!

There was a quick rustling in the bushes, as if the creature was ready to pounce and attack. Romano bumped back into Drualt, just when a flash of light went off before him. Before he could concentrate on the flash, he found himself falling straight into the pool, with Drualt tumbling in as well.
