First Guy, and now Florina and Nils...

Hm. Makes you wonder when you'll be next.

But we don't actually know where people go when they disappear, do we? Funny, I would have thought that was a bigger concern than this, since the next person to disappear could be any one of us. Strange how it just...slipped our minds.

[He doesn't sound all too surprised ( Read more... )

[... hmm, those names. Only familiar with one of them, but she can guess at the relation.]

Don't tell me you're feeling lonely, Matthew.

[And she continues on smoothly.] I'd hope that we go home, though. Er... well, for everyone that has a home to go to.

Just curious.

[And it's even mostly true. He wasn't close to Florina or Nils...though he might, perhaps, miss Guy.]

It'd be a shame if, when our use is all up, they just...get rid of us.

Curiosity killed the cat. You remind me more of a canine sometimes, but it's a fair warning anyway.

[A bit of a sigh, leave it to him to be a pessimist.]

Then if it comes to that, we better prevent it as best we can.

[A canine? Really? He really doesn't get you sometimes.]

Oh, it hasn't killed me yet, though it might have gotten the cat by now.

[He laughs at that.]

So says the person who has already disappeared multiple times...though never off of the list.

What of those who arrive?

It seems to be a random selection. It's really hard to say, since there are people from different worlds here.

There musT be a REASON.

I think so too. We're definitely here for a reason. The trick is figuring out what they're using us for.

It's not as if we worry over what comes after death, were we in our own respective worlds. This seems to be a similar situation.

Instead, humans focus on what's directly in front of them. These...ducks, for example.

It does seem like it. In this case, we're still alive, though, so I'm curious.

[...]

Ducks. Yes, the ducks. Maybe that is the reason for the curses. Maybe they're supposed to keep us off-guard and distracted.

We're alive, and still within this city. [A slight frown.] I'm inclined to believe that disappearance is not synonymous with returning home, however, the circumstances between disappearances probably differ.

While I would like to agree, the documents you obtained refer to drawbacks which occur ever fortnight. It seems that they too hold little control over such occurrences... Unless, of course, they anticipated your thievery and leaked us false information.

We know nothing at all. There could be any number of different explanations, and for all we know, they could all be right.

[Isn't this fun?]

Which is possible, though if they anticipated it, I think they would have stopped me before I could get in there. But as for what sort of drawbacks they are...I have no idea.

[This is admitted quite cheerfully.]

Disappear?

Some people do, some people don't. I'm sure it depends on a lot of things.

Like what things? What happens when you disappear?

redcloakedthief August 7 2010, 06:04:21 UTC
Nobody knows. That's why I was asking.

Who knows. After all, we don't know what happens to them.
