[Today's Grell network post is brought to you from a bench in Goldenrod City!]

Question for you today, Johto! My, I seem to be full of these lately, don't I?

[Grell holds the 'Gear with one hand and points it down to her lap, where Hamlet the Cubone and newly hatched Juliet the Smoochum lie. A green colored egg (that some may recognize as a ( Read more... )

[Lalala gear lalala pokégear~~. Oh look, a person on the gear! ...Who looks much too familiar for comfort. What kind of sick joke is this?! A sick, sick, sick joke... he can feel his stomach churning just looking at that thing. However, this one might try to pretend not to know him. Hmmm... how to handle this situation...]

They're much stronger when they evolve. Deadly, even. Though, I must agree, some of these evolutions are simply dreadful.

[Hello little boy! Grell...does not recognize you. Sorry man.]

As the be expected. Though I would hardly underestimate the little ones. They can certainly hold their own if raised correctly.

[Welp. Better he not be recognized... not like he wanted Grell to recognize him anyway...]

The little ones are especially dangerous. Even they have some sort of poison to defend themselves with. ...I do believe we've met before. Or, perhaps, I am mistaken, though I doubt I could forget a face like yours.

Poison. Now there's something deadly. I prefer sharp objects myself...

Ah? [She studies the boy.] Though I do appreciate the complement [yes, she's assuming it's a positive one], you must be mistaken.

[Is it her or does this woman sound familiar? .....Nope! Moving on!]

Well, only four of mine actually evolved so far. I'm happy with all of them, but.... [She turns her gear to a graceful, pretty, and totally-not-that-creepy Jynx with a tiara that is playing with a Swablu right now.]

I must say, Velvet was way more cuter as a Smoochum though! [And the gear is back to Lizzie.]

[Oh, but Grell couldn't forget Lizzie! ... Take that how you will.

Grell taps her chin, deciding her opinion on Jynx.]

They could be worse, I suppose.

[WELL YOUR VOICE IS SO CLOSE but she needs to remember you as that black hair butler for her deceased aunt.]

True! Giving them a little accessory makes them way cuter sometimes! I don't think I have any that I don't want to evolve right now.

[Or if she ever caught Grell's name...]

You are certainly right about accessories. I'm quite a fan of them myself. I got this darling red bow for my Houndoom. It looks very stunning on him.

I haven't seen any reason not to evolve mine. I'm not keeping them for any aesthetic purpose, and the stronger they are, the better in my opinion.

There are a few of mine that require stones to evolve and is at this point why they remain in their first forms, but it is only a matter of time.

Honestly, I haven't had much trouble keeping them how they are, weaker or not. Though you're doing that "gym" thing, aren't you?

Ah yes, I've heard about those. Haven't come across one myself though.

Yes, I am doing that 'gym' thing, as you put it. In fact, just earlier I acquired the Plain Badge.

Growlithe here, [He turns the gear down to the puppy sitting at his feet.] is one of those that requires a stone. A fire stone, I do believe, and my Misdreavus as well. There is also my Eevee, but I do not wish to evolve her into any of the evolutions provided by the stones.

Well isn't that wonderful. [What do you mean there's a lack of enthusiasm in her voice?]

Oh my. [Oh boy, here we go. Tangent time.] The last time I saw a Growlithe was aaages ago over the network. They're still as adorable as I remember!

I wouldn't want to if it's cute. Mm, but I've heard they're stronger evolved, too . . . [a pause, then sie shrugs.] So I'd rather have something cute and strong.

A case of one or the other, it seems. Too bad they seem to rarely come together.

Mmm~m, I don't know. Aren't you supposed to train these for a reason?

If you're doing that "gym" thing, I suppose you'd want to have them as strong as possible. I simply train them to keep them in top shape.

If they can overcome evolved Pokémon, I don't see why I should force my little ones to evolve.

[It's rather obvious that Grell hasn't received a real thrashing in battle just yet, despite how long she's been in Johto.]

This may surprise you, but it's actually quite the opposite. Some evolved Pokémon cannot learn new moves at all. Unevolved Pokémon will also learn new moves at a faster rate.
