Could become canon... anonymous July 17 2014, 05:48:05 UTC
What a nice surprise to find a new fic here -- I'd returned to re-read another one and thought I'd just overlooked this one. I like how the story builds, but that there is this tension in Petyr's eyes that lets Sansa (and the reader) know that something is very wrong. Since I suspect that LF wants Sansa as his own eventually (although I'm not clear on his thinking regarding how that will exactly come to pass), this feels very canon-like. I have suspected that perhaps he would do this to her and that he'd be making her drink moon tea regularly to prevent the likely consequences (and I wonder whether there are negative side-effects to drinking moon tea).

I really like this line: "One day her father would learn to his sorrow what sort of daughter he’d made." We are definitely getting a sense in the books that Sansa is learning how to be a player and that she will one day turn the tables on him somehow.

Thanks for a very nice fic.

IMO Littlefinger is out to triumph over not just the higher nobility in general but the Tullys and Starks in particular. It's rather pathetic that for all he's accomplished, he's still that loser who can't get over the fact that Cat rejected him in favor of Brandon Stark. He's triumphed over the Tullys by becoming the new lord paramount of the riverlands, a title that had belonged to the Tully lords since Aegon the Conqueror. I'm sure the Tullys being expelled from Riverrun and Riverrun being given to a Frey-Lannister couple makes him quite satisfied.

He still has to complete his revenge on the Starks though. I don't think influencing Joffrey to kill Ned was enough for him either. I think his ultimate goal is to become lord of Winterfell and Sansa's husband - not only taking Sansa as a replacement for Catelyn, but taking the title and castle of the man he didn't compare to.
