This is exactly how I think she reacted during this situation. Reasonable and strong and fierce, but also scared.

I loved this: And she was terrified. Lord Jon Arryn had Brandon's brother Ned and Lyanna's betrothed Robert Baratheon with him in the Vale, so far refusing to turn them over to Aerys's "justice." She could not think why he would be writing to her father. Because, of course she'd know, she took her job as lady seriously.

And: Lord Hoster kissed her forehead. "Good girl." He released her and turned back to the window and the river. "Send your sister Lysa to me." That's a deft juxtaposition, and a great way to remind the reader of Lysa's/Cat's future as sisters and noble girls.

I love love love LOVE Cat's strength, courage, and sense of duty when she immediately agrees to marry Ned. I think fate or the gods repaid both of their devotions and sacrifices by giving them love and five beautiful children.

At least until Ned went south, that is.

Still, maybe a few blissful years of domestic tranquility is the most anyone can hope for in Westeros.
