Last night in my exhausted stupor (the logical outcome of backreading the entire internet), I did not actually *link* the Brendon/Ryan Revival Meme. netweight also informed me of the Harry/Draco nostalgia post. I know how I'm wasting my time at work today! \o ( Read more... )

You know that part where she says "WE'RE THE BIGGEST SLASH SHIP ON THE MOTHERFUCKING PLANET AND WE RULE ALL FANDOMS"?

I love that. I love that and I feel there's more truth to it than it may seem. Ever since I disengaged from H/D shipperdom I keep coming across other H/D'ers spread all throughout. It's not *ostensible* but some name strikes you as familiar and then you go and find the person wrote or draw or whatever in H/D shipperdom and you go, "A-AH!"

H/D and its epic-length multi-chaptered fics, its compulsion for obsessive organization, its taste for the experimental perhaps influenced fandom as we now know it more than people are aware. There's some comment there at the end where someone said she was putting together a Big Bang challenge and the feeling I got is that the person doesn't even know that, baby, H/D is where it ALL started. \o/

Was H/D really the first Big Bang? I didn't know that.

I do stumble across H/D shippers everywhere. I only ever paid tangential attention to the fandom, but I was still surprised by how many references I caught going through that post. Man, there have been so many times when I have stayed up ALL NIGHT reading H/D epics. I still do that! Not as often as I used to, but sometimes I still do.

Oh yes, definitively the first. (And I totally remember the OMG!!1eleventy!! feeling of it when they first came out, because of the scope of it all. In retrospect, only H/D'ers would be crazy enough to say, "50,000 words and canon compliant, bitches!")

I was the worst H/D shipper - I recognize quite a number of references but I confess I never made it through most of the old school H/D. It just didn't work for me. It doesn't matter! There was still plenty I did like! So many sleepless nights, soooooo many.

I do stumble across H/D shippers everywhere.

Right?! WE ARE IN YOUR FANDOM, ASSIMILATING YOU!

50,000 words! That's crazy. My Bandom Big Bang fic was 25,000 and I really didn't think I'd be able to pull it off.

I don't think I read ALL the old school stuff either, but I definitely read enough of it that the meme made me feel all nostalgic.

oooh, H/D nostalgia. God, H/D was just a force of nature, wasn't it? I would never, ever have called myself an H/D shipper but it was just so epic and established that I feel the nostalgia. Which is kind of the point, I guess.

Yay Gwen/Morgana! And I am so excited to read the Merlin Big Bangs, which I think start posting in the fist week of August. EEEE.

I was never an intense H/D shipper, but I definitely went through phases where I read all the fic. :)

Merlin Big Bang! \o/ I'm so excited too.
