The rent increase is astronomical (seriously, I can't even *say* it) and there is nothing we can do about it because our lease is up in January, at which point she can do whatever she wants. The landlady is a horrible, bitter human being and it pleases me that she is going to die old and alone. I hate everything

The landlords in NOLA need to understand that their market is not New York. It is not Los Angeles, or San Francisco. People are afraid to live there, wanting to help and recover, but the landlords are making it physically impossible. The prices I see for apartments in the French Quarter are now rivaling the prices I see in Brooklyn and other areas of NYC. Why would I want to move back to NOLA when NYC at least has a more stable and competitive job market?

It's completely asinine. I want to light her on fire. Landlords in this city pretty much suck across the board, at least in my experience, but this is ridiculous. The cost of living in NOLA right now is INSANE.
