So our landlord just talked to my roommate and apparently rent is going up at the end of December. She doesn't know how much yet, but she better decide soon because if it's more than a hundred dollars maybe two, there is just no fucking way. Which . . . I guess means I either end up in Birmingham a LOT sooner that I meant to or end up crashing

Thanks. Well, I don't know how steep it's actually going to end up being, but landlords around here are kind of known for being . . . dramatic. Maybe it won't be so bad, but I'll feel better when I know for sure.

And they can do that how? Why? Don't you have a lease?

Unfortunately, we have a year lease that we signed last January, so she can do it because the lease will be up. It just sucks that she didn't tell us before.

oh yuck! yuck! you should look at landlord/tenant law b/c there might be a rule about how much notice she has to give you about a rent increase.

certainly i would think she'd have to tell you by dec. 1 so you have time to apartment hunt.

but yeah, if you have time, look into it.

She only has to give us a month and she just told me and . . . it's not good. So I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing and how to stay in the city through April. I think it's doable, but . . . not fun.
