Hi I post recs at my pinboard: https://pinboard.in/u:amalthia and then share them via DW/LJ. I'm still working on the best format and I tend to rely on my tags to describe the stories. It's a tough balance to recommend without giving away spoilers.
Hello! I actually follow your recs over at pinboard! :)
I know what you mean about the format being tricky. I was reading back over my past recs, and I was mildly amused when I saw the number of times my recommendations could be boiled down to different variations of 'it's awesome, go read!'. Apparently my response, when faced with wanting to convince people to read a fic, but not wanting to spoil the plot, was extremely excessive exuberance.
(I was especially amused by the fact my adjective of choice, nine times out of ten, was actually 'awesome'. Most of the tiime, it looks like I couldn't even summon the ability to think of a different adjective).
I tend to enjoy detail, and I'm not fussed about being spoiled, so a long rec really suits me. Some of my favourite recs are actually detailed anti-recs posted by Jane Potter on epic_rants.
Thanks for saying hi... it's been a long time since I've been around, and I'm surprised to discover that anyone still follows my journal!
I think I've run out of ways of saying a story is awesome. :) I try to switch up the adjectives but it's tough going sometimes. I do know the more I like the story the easier it is to write more about it. :)
