The details and imagery in this are just fantastic, especially the parts about mailing the invitations -- with the details and the reverse-order flashbacks, time just seems to slow down, and the letters take on the kind of importance for the reader that they obviously have for Lily. The connection you draw between this letter, which is Lily's attempt to get her sister back, and her Hogwarts letter, which was what separated them, is very effective.

I like the humorous moments, too, especially the thought of James hitting Vernon with a Levicorpus... And the glimpses of James and Lily's love for each other, and how excited Lily is about getting married, are sweet.

Oh, this is really nice. I loved the characterizations of Lily and James, her tenacity, his protectiveness. Lovely. I thought Lily's voice in particular was quite well-drawn. The way you showed the emotions (Lily staring at the returned letter) was so vidid; it was all there in front of us, without your having to spell it out. Very beautiful. :)
