My evil computer ate my beautifully considered and constructed response to what should have been a simple question, but actually isn't. Bad computer, bad bad computer ( ... )

Curiouser and curiouser...

Thanks for the detailed reply, btw :)

The only thing that I can think of is that upon hearing the song, most people (like me) instantly thought "it's Voltaire!". It sounds like him, and it's *exactly* the kind of song he would write (although he would probably use more violins). It doesn't really sound like a ThouShaltNot song (like you I have Where's Neil When you Need Him, and also a couple more of their songs from other places), but then I often find that all male goth singers sound pretty much the same (all deep and gravelly) so it could well be them.

There's another instance of this kind of thing happening on YouTube - look up "Marilyn Manson You Spin Me Round" and you'll find a cover version of the old Dead or Alive song. It's a good cover, but it's not actually by Marilyn Mason. They just happen to sound *a lot* like Marilyn Manson.

To conclude... Voltaire probably didn't sing the song, but he certainly should have :)

Yeah, sorry. I get really anally retentive about stuff and type too much when I'm drunk. It's really bad.

" and the thing that I'd be best at,
would be impersonating lestat"

and well done to them finding all those
words to rhyme with 'Goth'!

The corps is mother, the corps is father, but sweet sister Death is much hipper.

The Lestat rhyme was clever and hilarious

My favourite lines were

"with my diet I'd get scurvy
And I'd worship Peter Murphy"

Though the rofl moment came at

"Yes, I'd... want to die
From the bottom of my heart impure
Would I like another clove? Well sure
And after that - we'll go listen to the cure"

It was like being seventeen again, only I wouldn't have found that funny at seventeen
