Not media work, no. But I am trying to rn a rather graphic-intese astronomy/astrophysics program, and it does not like my laptop.

What's your specs right now? Do you know them?

Might be easier to use a desktop for that kind of program, but it's hard to say without seeing it. You're going to find that heavy graphics work is done on a desktop, just because a laptop processor just isn't up to that speed yet. I'm building a desktop that runs faster than my laptop for that reason. It can handle it.

But if you want an upgrade to 2 gig, most that it's going to cost is 7000 yen, mainly for parts. Anything higher and you're being gypped.
