RIP groundhog

I hit a groundhog on the way to a wedding this weekend.

I still feel horrible about it and can't get the sound out of my head.
it's the first time I've ever hit an animal.

The truth is, you've just played your part in the food chain. If the population were low they wouldn't be running around on the streets. It's always sad, but arguably natural.

Ugh. I'm sorry. That's awful. I hit a snake last weekend up in Maine, but I didn't kill him and I felt totally totally like the worst person on earth. My sister chastised me, but my husband said, maybe he'll make an easy meal for a really hungry bird. *sigh*

yeah, right after i starting saying (almost crying) "i killed it, i killed it" and the person with me was no comfort. i asked what i was supposed to do (i couldnt brake too hard, i think there was someone behind me) and he said something to the effect of "you were supposed to not hit it". i wanted to hit him!
