While I didn't mind Trent (and he definitely improved as the season went on), La'Porsha should've won. She was the only contestant all season long who ever gave me goosebumps.
Watching clips of her performing has become a daily ritual for me. She gave so many MOMENTS. Basically, she owned the season. And I wanted her in Trent in the finale as the two best singers, but I didn't realize how badly I wanted her to win until I saw him singing the coronation song and my heart kind of sank. (But then she reported that she got the car, the cash, and the record deal with Motown she would have won if she'd won so - what the heck was the point of all that? They basically acknowledged that she was the winner, the fan favorite.)

This was the very first time I ever paid attention to American Idol. I don't know why - did I really need the online fan drama, the histrionics, the racial slurs etc? No. But I LOVE listening to that woman sing and watching her perform. 22 years old, divorced mother from Mccomb Mississippi, no previous professional experience as a performer and she just OWNED the stage.
