It was quite a difference, having the island replaced by the streets of Victorian London, but Bill was enjoying the change. It was almost like going home for a bit - not quite, as London was a Muggle city, but it was surely closer in comparison than the island on a normal day. It was a bit like going to a familiar place but back in time, and yet, ( Read more... )

Since the start of the month everything had come to be a great deal more complicated. Annie felt as if the Beeb was sponsoring everything. It had that distinct period-drama feel which was something that she enjoyed. It reminded her of times when she'd curl up on the sofa with her sisters and mugs of tea and take in simpler times and scintillating drama.

The complement made her blush faintly, something that Annie was ready to blame on the chill of the wind. She had spent part of her childhood in London before moving to Bristol. She was used to English winters even if this one was slightly different. Her time on the island had made her a bit soft apparently.

"Thank you, that's really too kind of you," she said taking extra care to not trip up on her skirts. "Look at you though, every bit the proper gentleman. I love it. You look like something the BBC would put on."

They walked along at a comfortable pace, Bill taking care to position himself on the side of the sidewalk that was closest to the road, so that Annie was somewhat shielded from splattering mud. "I don't reckon I'd want to dress like this all the time, but it's good for a bit of a lark," he replied, grinning. "Or about a month, if this December's the same as all the previous ones."
