I don't think I've seen (at least on here and on ff.net) anything where he's already some creature...but I probably missed something. Hope your search yields something!

Have you read Living Stone by TresMaxwell? In it, John is a psychic newly hired by the BPRD and ends up working with Hellboy in England on a case.
