Which shows the whole problem of defining much of anything as friend, foe, or much of anything else. I was going to say that for a doctor, death is the enemy, but then I thought, "is that really the case?" The answer I immediately replied with was "only sometimes". Other times He is a companion, an ally, or something else entirely.

The most recent Nobel peace prize winner (Martti Ahtisaari) used to say at contentious negotiations:
"Do you want to win, or do you want peace?"
