Lj has changed its post editor. I'm not even opted into the beta option. It ate my first draft of this too, so...here we go. another 3 prompts from keiliss.( painting, baking, winter )
Have you tried using a light box for the winter SAD? It works really well for friends of mine, and up here in the Frozen Northlands, SAD is prevalent. I also use full spectrum light bulbs in my desk lamps for when I'm at the computer. That is all that I need for my own small amount of SAD, but the light boxes work wonders for friends who are more affected than I am.
( know this is super, super late, so I hope you don't mind the reply...)
I bought a very nice SAD lamp and have it by my favorite chair. I tried using it last winter but I was so sick that I couldn't tell a difference. It is here and ready for next winter. :) Also my doctor checked my levels and it was determined I was at criminally low levels of vitamin D, so I'm on a supplement now.
Thank you for the recommendation, Erulisse! I should have tried one years ago - and I'm very curious how it will make me feel this winter.
I find that full spectrum lighting makes a huge difference in my attitude and helps me stick to positive outlooks instead of being a "Debbie Downer". LOL I hope the supplement helps with your Vit D deficiency. I take Calcium, Vit C and Vit D per doctor's orders and it does help.
I really relate to the painting part! I recently took a drawing course and I was very surprised that I could actually draw something minimally recognizable. :)
After that, I joined an urban sketchers group. We meet once a month on a Sunday morning at a chosen place and just sketch whatever is in the vicinity. It's a lot of fun.
Baking - that oatmeal honey bread sounds delicious. If you ever feel like sharing the recipe... ;) I'm going to try to bake naan from scratch this next week for the first time.

I know during these current times you're not able to meet with the sketching group, but are you still drawing? Are you enjoying it? I would love, love to know how to sketch - I think that kind of art just makes me so wistful.
Btw, I did not forget - this is the recipe I mentioned. It's got the weight measures in it too, which is helpful for international bakers. It's lovely just sliced and spread with a little butter (and honey/jam!)
No worries... LJ life these days seems to be super relaxed. We're all older and with more things on our hands, and it's fine taking a little time
Thanks for the recipe! I'm going to try that today.
I bought sweet potato flour the other day on sheer curiosity (ok, on a stupid impulse), but now I can't seem to find good recipes for it. I tried pancakes and they were terrible. Do you have any suggestions?
I'm not sketching right now... I seem to be busier than ever. My colleagues are complaining about the same. Dang, last Friday I was working until 8pm, on the verge of tear, nothing started for dinner... not all days are tht bad but it is not always easy to manage all that is expected. #firstworldproblems
